This was perhaps one of my most ambitious adventures yet...from a physical standpoint. My brother Eric and I planned to hike 165 miles around the Lake Tahoe basin. I hatched the crazy idea in 2002 when I visited our folks in Tahoe with a strained back. The Tahoe Rim Trail was officially opened in 2001, after more than 20 years of work and I figured planning to hike it would motivate me to work harder on getting my back strong again. I was alone in the idea at first and then, my brother decided to join me. There is a lot of planning and logistics to work out for a trek such as this (which I won't get into here)! Here, Eric counts out his MRE's as we do our last-night, last-minute preparations. Because this was a very long trek, I have broken up the pictorials by trail section. Enjoy!
